The Dutch Society for USA and Canada Philately (USCA) celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020!
Who are we?
USCA is “the home” of 190 Dutch collectors of US and Canadian postage stamps and covers. A vibrant philatelic club in the Netherlands. Active on many philatelic fronts.
USCA organizes eight club-meetings per year, publishes its own club-magazine, has its own book publications, a library including an extensive electronic database, an approval service and a new-issues service. USCA is present with promotional stands on all major Dutch philatelic shows.
The club-meetings are the place to be for USCA members. For stamping, finding philatelic material, enjoying good presentations and workshops, mutual exchange of philatelic news and knowledge and of course have fun together. Each meeting there is an auction with more than 300 lots. Many collectors specialize in one or more areas but there is also plenty of possibility for the non-specialized or starting collector. Every US and Canada collector is welcome!
Some members take part in national and international exhibitions. And with success! Like the specialist collections “US Postal Cards” and “US Postal Notes”. Both collections won gold at the World Stamp Show-NY 2016.
USCA is a chapter of the APS, the RPSC and the KNBF (Royal Dutch Association of Philatelic Societies). USCA members often are members of philatelic societies in the United States or Canada. Such as the United States Stamps Society (USSS), the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS), the Plate Number Coil Collectors Club (PNC3), the Perfins Club, the Precancel Stamp Society, the Postal Label Study Club, the Canal Zone Study Group and many others. Especially for gaining and exchanging knowledge. This contributes to an important goal of USCA: doing research and promoting knowledge about US and Canadian philately.
A lot of members are active on Ebay. Or are buying directly from American and Canadian dealers. The best way to find good material for Dutch collectors is buying in the United States and Canada!
One of our most famous publications is the Lexicon voor USA Filatelie, first published in 1990. A book in Dutch in which American philatelic terms are translated and explained. The 50th anniversary of USCA has given the impulse to renew and expand the book. A completely renewed and full color version of this book (Nieuw Lexicon voor USA Filatelie, 450 pages!) was offered to our members as an Anniversary book in 2020. A new standard work about US philately is born!
After 50 years, USCA still is a lively and very active club. A community of knowledge and friendship where members feel at home. With a lot of passion for USA and Canada philately!
