Dear stamp collector,May we introduce ourselves, A.P.S. chapter 1427 The Vereniging voor USA en Canada Filatelie (Society for USA and Canada Philately) was founded in January 1970. It now has 320 members throughout the country and in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. Its purpose is to encourage collecting of North American philatelic items. Meetings of these U.S and Canadian stamp enthusiasts are held at several locations around the Netherlands seven times a year, with usually an attendance of around 60 collectors. Auctions of 200 to 400 lots are always a part of these meetings. Member benefits include the group's 28-page newsletter, USCA Post, filled with original and translated articles, as well as general club news. In addition there are a new issue service, sales circuits books, pooled orders for supplies and a 700-volume library. Herman Herst's book Nassaustreet was translated and printed in Dutch in 1980 by the group. The organization also has published its own works; most recently, a profusely illustrated dictionary of American/Canadian philatelic terms, available in 1990. It was awarded a silver medal by the 1992 PhiLITex jury. In 2000 USCA Post was international awarded by APS (American Philatelic Society) with 81 points (Vermeil) as the best foreign club magazine. Annual membership fee is Euro 20,50 For 65+ Euro 18,25 and Euro 24,75 for foreign countries. For the Netherlands, these prices are for Direct Debit.
